Star Champions

Star Champions is a top down RTS sci-fi shooter game. Where the player can take command of either the Star Destroyer or the Carrier Ship. Each having different abilities, summoning ally ships or sending out a deadly toxic missile, as well as having upgrades for your ship and allies. The current build is a demo of what we were able to make in the short time period. Feel free to email me for any feedback. Trailer coming soon as well.

UI Trial and Error

During the beginning of development, the UI they had when I joined the team the health bar was from edge to edge it took the width of the screen. Which at the time it was fine becuase they knew it was going to be replaced at some point. When I started to think how can we change it, because health bars are always bars, I wanted the health bar to be different.

This was the first idea i had for the health bar since we were going for a space RTS style game so I wanted the bar to have this fuel/control panel type of feel. Although I was able to make it work but it wasn't exactly what I wanted so it was scrapped and it was changed back to the bars.

UI Process

As we kept adding more ideas to our project i knew that the UI had to improve, so I keep changing it sending the ideas to the group to see there reaction and get feedback as well to see if there was ways to improve it, As time went on I keep getting ideas from my other teammates on how we can make it simple to understand to a new player as well as not clutter the bottom of the screen. After many, many iterations of the UI we came up with the last layout, as a group effort and proud to say that I made the layout and design.
